Welcome
Hello! I am so excited you are interested in exploring how therapy might be able to help guide you or your child. My goal is to create a safe and supportive place for you to process what you need, whether that be emotions, negative thoughts, trauma, etc. Together, we will figure out what your therapeutic goals are and how to move forward in implementing them. Therapy can be an extremely intimidating idea at first and my purpose is to support you unconditionally as you work on your relationship with yourself and others. My hope is to help aid in your understanding of your needs in order to help you feel more equipped for everyday life.
How I Work
I work from a person-centered approach meaning I want to meet you exactly where you are with what you feel like you need. For me, the most important part in successful therapy is building a strong therapeutic relationship, so I enjoy spending time getting to know you and what life looks like for you. I utilize treatment approaches from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Play Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Together, we will figure out which coping skills can be utilized in a beneficial way and work towards a healthier overall functioning.

Therapist Spotlight
What made you decide to become a counselor?
I chose to become a counselor after doing my own therapy work as an adolescent and recognizing how much I would love to be able to positively influence someone the way I was. I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession and this narrowed it down for me.
If you could teach the world one skill or technique to improve their lives, what would it be?
Being able to regulate your emotions in stressful situations I believe is so crucial in bringing about more positivity and peace into one’s life. It’s much easier said than done but I imagine a world with emotion regulation skills would help the world immensely.
Have you personally been in counseling and if so, what did you learn about yourself?
I have personally been in counseling and I have learned so much related to understanding how my past has shaped who I am today. In addition to understanding that, I’ve learned when to give myself more grace, which I think is something everyone could do for themselves.
If you could recommend one book to all your clients, what would it be?
I would recommend “Growing Yourself Back Up” by John Lee. I think it’s a great read that ties in how to interpret feelings and reactions while understanding the why of the reactions and feelings.
What inspires you to help others?
There is no better feeling than having a client come into their next session with such excitement and pride for setting boundaries, improving emotion regulation, seeing a decrease in negative thinking patterns, etc. For me, that has continued to inspire me to help others recognize how they can take control of their lives in ways thought impossible beforehand.
Who is your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is willing to be open to the therapeutic process and have a desire for growth.
How do you personally practice self-care?
Yoga has been a big form of self care for me recently. It’s been a great way for me to make time for myself with something that makes me feel strong and relaxed simultaneously.
How do you relate to Mindfulness? How do you incorporate it in your sessions?
Mindfulness is one of those tools that once aware of the benefits, it’s difficult to imagine life without it. Personally, mindfulness has done wonders for me with anxiety and stress. In my sessions, I like to incorporate mindfulness in different ways based off of how I feel my client may get the best results. Breath work, physical activities and guided meditations are a few examples.
If you are hosting a dinner party, who are the 3 people you would invite and why?
I would have dinner with my maternal grandparents who passed away many years ago. Due to a language barrier, I was unable to communicate with them well as a child and I would love the opportunity to get to know them better over a dinner with some of our favorite Puerto Rican dishes. I would also have my sister join as I know she would have liked the opportunity to get to know them better as well.
