How I Work

My approach to therapy is utilizing a mixture of talk therapy, mindfulness, problem-solving, and skill-building. By exercising these methods, I am able to help individuals work through anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, and more. I am constantly striving to broaden my knowledge through evidence-based techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

What made you decide to become a counselor?

I decided to become a counselor because I wanted the opportunity to empower individuals to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their strengths, and to help them cultivate a sense of confidence and self-awareness.

If you could teach the world one skill or technique to improve their lives, what would it be?

If I could teach the world one skill to improve their lives it would be mindfulness meditation. It’s a simple yet powerful technique that can be practiced anywhere, at any time, and can be tailored to fit individual needs and goals. It’s been extensively researched and has been shown to have a wide range of benefits such as reducing anxiety and stress, improving emotional regulation, increasing self-awareness, and enhancing overall well-being.

Have you personally been in counseling and if so, what did you learn about yourself?

I have personally been in counseling since 2021, and it has been a transformative experience. Through this process, I’ve recognized the patterns that were holding me back, gained the confidence to pursue my goals, and secured a newfound sense of self-compassion and resilience.

If you could recommend one book to all your clients, what would it be?

If I could recommend one book to all my clients, it would be The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, MD. The book beautifully articulates how overwhelming experiences affect the development of the brain, mind, and body.

Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client would be open-minded, hungry for growth, and willing to do the necessary work to reach their goals.

How do you personally practice self-care?

I personally prioritize self-care by maintaining my ow emotional and physical well-being to ensure I can provide the best possible support to my clients. I practice self-care in various ways such as spending quality time with loved ones, hiking, and cooking. By taking care of myself, I am better equipped to show up fully for my clients.

How do you relate to Mindfulness? How do you incorporate it in your sessions?

I relate to mindfulness as a simple yet powerful tool to cultivate self-awareness and emotional regulation. Deep breathing or asking clients to bring their attention to a different part of their body are two examples of incorporating mindfulness in sessions. This allows the client to ground themselves, notice their thoughts and emotions, and develop awareness.

If you are hosting a dinner party, who are the 3 people you would invite and why?

If I were hosting a dinner party and had the opportunity to invite three people, living or dead, I would invite the following three individuals:

1. Dr. Francine Shapiro - I would love to pick her brain about EMDR therapy and its

revolutionary results.

2. Taylor Swift - I find she has a powerful connection with words and lyrics and I would

love to see how her mind works.

3. Selena Gomez - She is a mental health advocate and started the Rare Impact Fund

that brings mental health resources into educational settings to reach young people.
