If you're reading this, it tells me you are at a point on your life path that you are recognizing something needs to change. Maybe life is confusing or challenging. Maybe you're experiencing personal hardship and struggle. As a result, relationships, work or other areas of your life feel difficult to manage.
We all get to a point where the pressure and stress of our present circumstances begin to bear heavily enough on us that we recognize a need for change.
If there's one thing that we, as humans, have difficulty with, it’s supporting this process of change in ways that actually add value to our lives, to the benefit of ourselves, our family, friends and community.
I am here to support that process. My mission is to support the organism’s natural movement toward wholeness. To guide and support you to organically grow into your full potential. Whether you’ve been struggling with issues like depression, anxiety, past trauma, family or relationship challenges. Or you’re experiencing a great degree of stress or change and are having difficulty coping--I am here to assist you in growing through it. Even if you sense a vague need for "something more" and are on a path of personal or spiritual growth, I’m here to help.
How I Work
I provide a down-to-earth counseling style that offers you a safe space to begin recognizing, speaking to, and processing whatever is most difficult right now.
I operate from the belief that "Life challenges aren't here to punish you, but to awaken you" Together we’ll help you find perspective, develop skills to manage your distress, access support you may not have known existed, and process any underlying issues that can keep you stuck—repeating painful patterns that contribute to your suffering.
Remember, whatever feels painful right now is:
1) Worthy of our attention,
2) Nothing to be ashamed of, and
3) Can be best worked through with contained and safe support from another.
Mindfulness has been a distinct part of Kevin’s personal approach and professional practice since he began practicing psychotherapy in 2008. He’s maintained a dedicated spiritual practice for the last 20 years, combining mindfulness, meditation, pranayama (breath work) and internalization of the energy body. So, mindfulness underscores both Kevin’s own experience in the world and how he shows up with his clients. The practice of self-reflection and self-awareness is inherent to how he gathers information, develops understanding, and attunes to himself and his clients.
After completing his Master’s in Counseling from The University of Montana in 2007, Kevin worked in community mental health centers across Montana and Colorado as an outpatient therapist. There he offered both teens and adults a safe space to gain balance and work through personal and/or clinical mental health issues.
Kevin is trained in Somatic forms of therapy including Hakomi Mindfulness-Centered Somatic Psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR. He’s currently completing certification in Permaculture Design focusing on the human relationship to larger natural systems.
The heart of Kevin’s work lies as the crossroads between the human organism and its relationship to the larger organism of Life. His mission is to support each organism’s natural movement toward wholeness. He’s passionate about supporting these systems to organically grow into their full potential. When he’s not supporting his clients in therapy you can find him with his hands in the dirt gardening, doing permaculture design, barefoot hiking, and exploring the simple beauty of natural spaces.
